I purchased a V-Envie UPS from UPS Warehouse in Jhb 18 months ago and it burst into flames this month. So a warning on the product ( even though they maintain this has never happened before ) and also the customer experience. After two ignored e mails to the National Sales Person I phoned them and there was an immediate denial of responsibility. Through some calls and e mails they stated that their warranty is only for 12 months irrespective of issue , even though this fire was a catastrophic failure than caused smoke damage, and luckily I was at home when it happened and extinguished it quickly they would not entertain any claim or responsibility for their product or even offer a discount if I wanted to purchase a replacement / different unit.

I have bought a R96k Ups System through Barbara at UPS Warehouse and added the delivery/installation/commissioning option to ensure that nothing can go wrong with my installation. A technical team from UPS Warehouse came to my house and installed the system, approved the integration of the UPS System with my current solar system and commissioned the device. The unit was activated early in May 2021 and 3.5 days later the system malfunctioned and was badly damaged. I logged a call and the technical team came to my site to inspect the faulty unit. They told my installer, who is a very highly qualified artisan, that they have no idea what could have caused the damage as they have never experienced this before. They took the unit in for repairs. The company billed me R14766.32 for the repair which should have been a warranty claim as nobody could explain what caused the damage with even 50% cer*****y. Neil, the company expert, came to site and was as confused as to the cause of the damage and found nothing wrong with the installation or integration of the Ups unit into my current system. Ups Warehouse did the commissioning!! Barbara from Ups Warehouse, sent me an email, which proposed a replacement deal on my request as I had no faith in the product anymore and wanted to find an amicable solution to the problem, which would be mutually beneficial . We settled on a deal only to come to a conclution that the product which would be the replacement for the Ups and an extra R28248.60 that I had to pay to the company, was not compatible nor approved to integrate with my system being a combination of Victron and Fronius. Obviously Ups Warehouse, Andrew and his supplier Hubble Lithium disagreed with the findings but neither of them wanted to endorse the use of the product in my installation on paper. Andrew from Ups Warehouse then decided to revert back to the first deal as I told him that I can not swap one product unfit for the application for another product unfit for the same application without company warranty and guarrantee. I asked for a full refund under the Consumer Protection Act which clearly states that any product that you purchase should at least live up to the expectation. 3.5 days and the unit failed completely!! Ups Warehouse has recieved R96k for the initial purchase, an extra R14k for the repair, an extra R28k to facilitate an incompatible product and R5203.00 for delivery/installation/commissioning. Andrew has sent me his very first email during this mess last night to inform me that I can ask for a quote from Ups Warehouse to re-install, pay it and then they will deliver the repaired unit to my site or I can send a qualified person to fetch on my behalf and sign off the unit. No warranty claim, no guarantee that the unit is suited for my application, no refund on the unit!! Plse don't make the same mistake as I did!! This is only the beginning!!

After purchasing an inverter from UPS Warehouse it had some technical issues. The company and Marco and Quintus in particular went out of their way to resolve the issue. It's good to see that this level of excellence can still be found in South Africa.
