I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the team at Sony World SA - SMD Technologies. Karla Hindle, Graham Lebese, SMD Package Warehouse Teams and the Courier Teams for delivering beyond my unrealistic expectations. I ordered a Sony Smart TV online on March 20th, 2026 in the morning and pleeded with the team to have the product at my house for my birthday March 21st, 2026. Graham had to run around acting as a shock absorber between myself and the warehouse packing teams to making my birthday wish come true - and indeed on Friday March 20th, 2026, 15h00 my TV was delivered to my home address. Now to me, that is a service "Beyond Excellence"👌👌👌.

Couldn’t be more disappointed with their customer service. I bought a keyboard at Comic con on Friday, and it was a huge mistake. To start with, the guy who helped me selected the incorrect item when I was paying, I noticed and then corrected him and I went to fetch the price tag to show him the correct price. They then put the payment through as a double payment of over R6000. I stated I only wanted the one before they made the payment, but they were too busy having their own conversation to hear me. When I realised I told them I can’t afford to pay double and need a refund immediately, to which they responded in irritation and said they actually don’t offer refunds. I insisted that it wasn’t what I wanted and again they got more irritated and the man who helped me just disappeared. I then stood there waiting for them, eventually someone else approached and said they could refund me in cash, I explained that I wasn’t comfortable running around a event as big as comic con with so many people with that amount of cash in my backpack. Which they then responded to with acting like I was being an inconvenience, when it was their own incompetence that lead to this. After arguing I finally managed to convince them to refund me via EFT and gave my bank details as well as took the consultants name and contact number. (Because of how they were treating me I could see I would need someone to contact , I had a lot of doubt they had any intention of refunding me) She said the amount would be transferred later that afternoon. I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED MY REFUND, I messaged the consultant and at first she just ignored me, and today she finally responds and tells me that the amount will be reflect this afternoon. I obviously haven’t received my money back. Not only were they *********** with the worst customer care I’ve experienced in a long time, they were also straight up careless, and made it out to seem like an error on my part. On top of that I have been promised to be refunded for their mistake and received nothing. R3000 may not be worth a lot to the company, but it’s a hell of a lot for a young woman that has to pay her debit orders 2 days later. In the 15 years I’ve spent buying tech for gaming, I’ve never had an experience as bad as this one, and for that reason I would DEFINITELY NOT recommend that anyone purchase anything from them. SMD TECHNOLOGIES PLEASE REFUND MY MONEY.

Sales and service for this product provided by SMD Technologies. I writing this review to share my profoundly disappointing experience with SMD Technologies - Connex Connect after-sales service for their PTZ camera, an experience that highlights their severe lack of customer concern. On the positive side, setting up the Connex PTZ camera was surprisingly easy. The app downloaded quickly to my phone, and connecting the cameras to it was a seamless process. The general build quality of the camera itself appears to be quite good. However, the major issue arose when the camera developed a fault. I discovered that a crucial internal connector, responsible for the electrical supply, had come loose. This prevented the camera from being powered. Given my understanding, this seemed like a relatively simple internal issue that should be easily rectifiable. My attempts to get assistance from Connex's technical department were met with a complete and utter lack of support and a clear disinterest in helping. My calls involved being passed from one technical staff member to another, only to be eventually informed that they could not assist me as the camera was out of warranty. The entire interaction gave me the distinct feeling that there was no genuine desire to help resolve my issue, despite what seemed like a minor physical defect. Being dismissed so readily, even for a potentially simple fix, highlights a severe deficiency in their customer service. What truly underscores their indifference is what happened next: Feeling I had nothing to lose with a non-functional device, I decided to open the camera myself. To my absolute non-surprise, it was precisely as I had explained to their "technical" staff: a small plastic connector that holds the female part of the power plug had broken off internally. With a bit of glue, I reattached it, closed the unit, and the camera is now working perfectly again. This direct experience unequivocally proves that Connex is more concerned about strict warranty adherence and avoiding minimal effort than providing actual customer support or standing by the inherent quality of their products. While the Connex PTZ camera has some initial positive aspects regarding connectivity and build, their non-existent, unhelpful, uncaring after-sales support and their clear lack of concern for customer problems, even simple ones, makes me strongly caution potential buyers. If you encounter any technical issues with their products, particularly outside of warranty, be prepared for a frustrating and unsupported experience where you are passed around, dismissed, and ultimately left to fix their product yourself.

I’d like to know if a hairdryer blows up while you using it is it a factory fault, no matter the age of the product? This is the 2nd EHC Hairdryer I’ve had that has blown up and had fire coming out of it. Safety issue and dangerous. I won’t buy their products ever again. They say they can’t replace it and don’t have parts to repair it. Shame on them.

10/10 Customer Service Experience! I had a query regarding an Ebony Carmen hot comb I purchased through Dischem Mall of Africa. I emailed both Carmen and Dischem, and to my surprise, they responded within 24 hours! My issue was then escalated to Ruan Potgieter in the returns department — an absolute superstar. Ruan was incredibly friendly, attentive, and efficient. He listened to my concern and resolved the matter with the store in under 4 hours. I have rarely experienced such outstanding service. Ruan is truly an asset to SMD Technologies, and we as clients are lucky to have someone like him assisting us. Thank you to Dischem, Carmen, and SMD Technologies — and a special thank you to Ruan for going above and beyond!
