Based on recent customer reviews, SA Post Office delivers a deeply troubled customer experience across virtually every service dimension. Customers consistently report lost parcels, unreachable call centres, hostile or indifferent staff, and unresolved financial disputes with Postbank. While a handful of individual staff members earn warm praise for exceptional service, the overwhelming pattern is one of systemic failure, from parcel delivery to complaint resolution.
Top Strengths:
- •Customer Service & Frontline Experience: A small number of named staff members, such as Samukelisiwe Xulu, Ms Kekana, and Shandy, receive enthusiastic praise for going beyond their call of duty. Sunninghill branch is specifically noted for professional, friendly service.

SAPO ***** behaviour
I ordered a T-shirt from overseas on the 2nd Jan 2026 and the item cleared customs on 29 January. I expected that it would be couriered to my address but later learnt that it was possibly at the Post Office. I went to collect the parcel on the 20th February although no notification had been sent to me that the parcel was there. I arrived at the Randburg Post Office at about 09h40 and upon arriving at the counter after a short wait, I was served by Ms Martha Matsaung. It took her and the manager roughly 20 mins to locate the parcel, thus by then the queue behind me had grown quite long. I was then presented with the manifest which reflected that I owed an exorbitant amount of R2580,42 on an item that I had paid US$22,50 plus US$11,99 in shipping thus a total of US$34,49. Due to the long queue and the fact that I had already been at the counter for 20 mins, I elected to pay the amount. Upon producing my credit card, Ms Matsaung advise me that the card machine was not working and I should go to ATM to get cash, which I did. When I returned and presented her with the R2480,00 (she did not ask for the 42 cents) she reacted with Shooo! Perhaps she expected me to abandon the parcel but I was determined to get my T-Shirt. On reviewing the dubious manifest, my order and the packaging of the shirt together with contacting SARS it was clear that there was a big mistake or possibly something more sinister going on. I am awaiting a response from SARS and I thought it prudent to bring this to SAPO’s attention as well

SA Post Office Head Office Customer Services
I spoke to a delightful lady at Customer Services SA Post Office in Pretoria, who sorted out my concern in collecting a parcel at SA Post Office Randburg. I did not catch her name however she was helpful, precise and to the point. Thank You.

Bad postal services
I ordered a small parcel from eBay on the 25.09.2025 and as per seller the parcel will arrive in 3 weeks, and if it does not arrive then as per eBay policy I get a refund. I waited the 3 weeks and seller said to give it another week so I said okay. After about 5 weeks I told the seller parcel has not arrived and they tracked the dates and arrived on time in South Africa but still refunded me. I received the parcel end of January, the parcel was delivered through the South African postal services into my home address post box. This is not the first time I placed an order and the post office never sent the parcel to date and it just vanished as it was tracked by seller until arrival in South Africa, this happened a few years ago. But good to know for future people using the post office fort postal services. I will not use the post office again for delivery or sending, I will rather pay extra for courier service.

Lack of Communication
I ordered a parcel from Australia and it landed in JHB on the 23 January 2026. When you phone to find out about your parcel you are told its with them, but cannot tell you any other information. I have sent two emails to their customer service without any response. This is not just a one off instance, any parcel coming from overseas is either going to go missing or you'll wait a very long time and no one can assist you at SA Postal Service. You are better off organizing your own courier company to collect it for you.
