I notified Rustenburg Local Municipality (hereafter RLM) yesterday morning that I will be approaching you for support due to their failure to attend to disputes submitted and requests for adjustments to inaccurate charges should the requests submitted not be dealt with by 16h00.
I received a request from RLM to extend the due date to today at 14h00. Needless to say, I have yet to receive proof that RLM attended to the matters.
I submitted a formal dispute on account 01027326 on 10 February 2026. RLM has not yet attended to the disputed charges despite their by-law stating that disputes will be dealt with within 28 days.
On 8 December 2025 I requested RLM to adjust water undercharges on account 15256189 AND supp**** a photo of the current meter. It has not yet been corrected. This account is linked to consolidations and the clearance amounts will be wrong if water charges are not corrected.
On 15 December 2025 I requested reversal of overcharges on account 05515684 AND supp**** a photo of the water meter.
The above three matters have been followed up numerous times, yet adjustments have not yet been processed until now (19/03/2026 at 14h28)
The undue delay is viewed as DELIBERATE and intended to not only HARM my good name, but also FRUSTRATE the municipal consumers. I think I was more than reasonable to date.
I humbly request you to engage with RLM on the above. It is my informed opinion that this amounts to POOR service delivery and is in my view against the requirements of not only the Constitution and applicable legislation, but also Batho Pele principles issued since the issuance of the White Paper on Local Government years ago.
