I bought a new pool pump and motor from Genesis Pools last year October 2018 from Jacques (co-owner) and after numerous attempts, I could not get the invoice out of him for the warranty of the equipment. This Monday 30 September 2019 the motor burned out and I tried to contact him again so that I can try to get the motor repaired / replaced because it is still under warranty. A Pieter answered the phone and I explained to him the whole story. He informed me that he bought the company over from Jacques and that he is aware that many previous clients from Genesis Pool are experiencing similar issues due to the previous owners. He told me that he would come and collect the motor and pump that afternoon (30 Sept-19). I should just send him my details etc. Well it is now 4 October 2019, 5 days later, and Pieter is just a no show. Not replying to messages or phone calls. I guess Genesis Pools is in great hands to continue with poor service delivery.
Below my email to Grow Group. “Good Morning, I just want to inform you that dealing with Grow Group is one of the most frustrating unprofessional companies I have ever came across. Jacques is a great salesman but keeps you on a line forever because he has no honor in keeping his word or promises. There is no point making arrangements with him because there is always a hundred excuses why appointments are not honored or why he could not mail, phone or whatsapp a person back. If it is not a horse thats dying, e-mails that is not working or phones being flat its something else. As of Monday (4 Feb) this week I am still waiting for a new date for the work that was supposed to have been done at my property. From yesterday (6 Feb) I followed up on it again an clearly he is just ignoring me now. I even had the cash at hand to pay him on the spot but even that was not worth his while. I guess doing a pump test on my borehole, equipping it with a pump and motor and changing my irrigation system from manual to automated were not worth his while. Since my first interaction with Grow Group on 17 Jan not a single arrangement, agreement or promise where honored by Jaques. Is is shocking especially how quickly is was bad mouthing his competition of poor client services and not being professional. If I was one of the Director’s (as mentioned on the Grow Group) that joined the Grow Group, I would be concerned that one person has the power to destroy everyone’s reputation. Rest assured that a copy of this mail will be used a a review. “ Just to add on this yesterday 3 days later Jacques Kruger finally after this email responded back to me via whatsapp. He dis not msg or phone any of his client because his dog was sick and died. Just another story and if its true you can still have the decency to inform your clients etc.
I always had brilliant services from Christo, until the first time there were some errors on blinds that were installed. I informed him on 5 May 2018 of the problems. After many empty promises and no shows and excuses like diesel is expensive and many followup’s from my side I finally gave up after it was dragging out for months. Its now 2019 and I had to get someone else to fix the mess. It a sad that the after sales services are so horrible especially if it is said that part of their mission is excellent after sale services. Unfortunately that was proven to be not the case. I directed numerous people to him and had been asked by numerous people who I can recommend blinds etc. Unfortunately now it is who to avoid. Its sad that it had to end up this way because I personally like to support people giving excellent services. I supported them and unfortunately it was not a two way street.
Francois does not have a clue of what he is doing. Replaced my pool pump as an easy fix just to discover afterwards it was not necessary because the impeller could have been fixed at my local pool shop. According to him no spares are available for my type of pump. Once replaced the kreepy did not work. His diagnostics were that there is an air leak and we will have to dig up all my paving to the weir of the pool because that is where the leak is. Luckily for me whilst debating this nonsense and getting him to phone his mom for advise (because he thought it would be a good idea to run the pump in reverse through the system) the kreepy started to work. At the end of the day when replacing the motor, pump, and filter sand he never primed the system (and this after I asked him if he did). This was the only reason it was not working. Now it is working and with wasting money on a new pump and motor and preventing a disaster on my paving I am still waiting for an invoice. His helper also left his keys by accident that day and Francois until today did not bother to come and fetch it for the guy. Very disappointing.
Seriously avoid at all cost. Awful workmanship. Redoing everything at least 4/5 time over and the it still looks terrible. Poor supervision. Owner Nico has a bully tactic approach when owners complain. Poor supervision and foreman will raise their voice at your wife when they are caught in one of their numerous lies. Owners start to works for him and not the other way around. Damage your property with empty promises that they will fix it afterwards and then not keeping to their word. Order wrong doors and install them and then refuse to replace them. Owner hardly pitch up for schedule meetings. Finances always in a mess with them. The also double charge you on certain VAT items. They also under quote on m2 on various items so that they can come in under other quotes and then during the project there are all these hidden costs inflating your original costs. The take short cuts and do not build your additions according to your approved plans and then do not take responsibility for that when a building inspector caught them red handed. Owner refused to meet with the building inspector after he said he will fix all the problems as per the inspectors report. Makkink never tried to fix the faults as highlighted in the inspectors report and decided to walk away and abandoning my wife and I. This after Nico put the phone down in the ear of the inspector during a telephone conversation. We as owners had to rebuild our 78m2 garage roof from scratch because it was unsafe, not build according to building regulations, and substandard material and products was used which was not up to code. They also did not build it according to the approved building plans. We had to redo the electrical as well because this was also not up to code in the garage. We also had to uninstall the caravaan size garage door and re-install it again due to the roof being redone at additional unforeseen costs. Needless to say our newly laid garage floor is already cracking up, like the walls that were build in our house, and will eventually need fixing at additional cost as well. Makkink does not reply to these issues and in the past when they reply they make weird and wonderful reasons why thing are happening and this without the owner even coming out to check what the problems are. In SA we are getting used to poor service providers, but these guys takes the cake. I have never experienced something like this ever in my life and it cost us financially and emotionally in the worst way possible.
<p>My experience with this company and person. </p> <p> </p> <p>As indicated within the quote the majority of stipulated items or product descriptions were not adhered to. These include the following:</p> <p> Sand down of trailer, removal of rust, application of body filler, masking of trailer, sand down and masking of rims, prepare and respray of chassis, alterations of the roof rack, petties (fitment of new reflectors).</p> <p> </p> <p>Details related to the defective workmanship of the aforementioned:</p> <p> Overspray and the lack of paint at numerous parts on the trailer. Not masking the required areas.</p> <p> Overspray on two brand new tyres which were fitted on 18 January 2017. Not masking the tyres before spraying. The tyres were not removed prior to spraying. This is evident by the spray on the wheel nuts and that only the outside of the rims were sprayed and not the inside. The rims were also not sanded and prepared before spraying. The red strip finish on the rims, which is the original factory default strip for venter trailers, still exists and is still visible. The paint at some places was also sprayed on to thick. This is evident by the marks of running paint. The wheels were supposed to be white, but it was sprayed with an off white, beige, cream colour.</p> <p> The paint was still wet on the outside of the trailer when the trailer lid was closed. The consequence of this was that the paint on both edges on the corners was badly damaged.</p> <p> The jockey wheel is still full of rust. No attempt was made to remove the rust and to respray it.</p> <p> It is clear that on the one side of the tow hitch it is painted and the other side not.</p> <p> The old reflectors were removed, but the double sided tape that remained was not removed. It is still visible after the respray. Another indication that the trailer was not sanded and prepared properly. Old reflectors were stuck back on with a white substance, needless to say some of the reflectors felled off. It was supposed to be new reflectors as asked for and not old ones. It was part of the “petties” as discussed with the Defendant. If new ones were used then the white substance was not required to try and clue them back on.</p> <p> The reflector tape strips on the sides of the trailer was not properly removed. New reflector tape strips were stuck on top of remaining reflector tape to hide the evidence. The consequence of this is that the reflector tape is not properly fixed to the trailer and is making bubbles at places and peeling. Another indication that the trailer was not sanded and prepared properly.</p> <p> A brand new number plate bracket, which was provided by the Plaintiff to the Defendant, was fitted on skewed.</p> <p> The brake and indicator light unit housings at the back of the trailer was not removed before respraying the trailer, however there were only four *****s out of the required eight *****s within the light housing cover when the trailer came back. This was noticed due the light fittings being loose. It is suspected that the Defendant struggled to remove some of the *****s and decided to leave the light units fitted on the trailer; however the defendant forgot to insert the *****s back in that was removed. The left back light unit housing was also cracked at one of the ***** housings. The consequence of this was that the previous old white paint is visible around the boundaries of the light unit housings. Another indication that the trailer was not sanded, masked, and prepared properly.</p> <p> The chassis underneath the trailer was not prepared properly and sprayed.</p> <p> The additional angle iron cross bars that was welded onto the trailer which forms part of the roof rack, was done in such a poor way and quality, it is almost indescribable. Only parcel welds were made on each welding area. The welds that were made are of such a very poor quality. Holes at the welding areas on the joints between metals are visible within the angle iron due to the burning of metal during welding. One of the cross bars that was installed was made up by using off cut angle iron pieces. The cross bar was obviously to short and extended with a small piece. Once again highlighting the poor quality of workmanship during the welding process. The roof rack was also not removed prior to welding and respraying. The consequence of this is the exclusion of welds and paint at areas underneath the angle iron bars. Not only does the poor workmanship visually looks bad, but due to the poor welding water will enter the angle iron frame at these points when using the trailer during unfavourable weather conditions. The metal will rust from the inside out. The poor welds also compromises the integrity (strengths) of the roof rack structure and will be a potential safety risk to the Plaintiff and other road users if this structure fails when used and bearing load.</p> <p> The mudguards on the trailer were repaired by adding sheet metal on the top part of the mudguard on both sides. At one side the metal sheet is fixed with four pop rivets and the other side with five. The space that exists between the sheet metal and the existing mudguard was not repaired properly by using body filler to prevent water from entering the space between the two metal sheets. The consequence of this will be that the metal will continue to rust in the space between the two sheet metals due to the moisture that will be trapped. It is also doubtful that the mudguards were prepared and sanded down before adding the sheet metal considering the aforementioned evidence.</p> <p>In addition to the aforementioned, it is clear that the preparations were not conducted to the appropriated standard acquired for respraying a trailer and the Plaintiff carries the risk that the paint work on the body of the trailer can potentially begin to peel and flake over a short amount of time.</p>
Forest Hill: Sending untrained deliver people to deliver a double door fridge. Struggling to carry it and eventually dropping and damaging it while it was in the box still. This after not keeping to the delivery time after 16h00 and harassing me with a couple of phone calls waiting in front of my gate. They brought the next day another fridge and this was also damaged and also phoning me again around 14h00 wanting to deliver. The one door was not able to close. This after David the store manager promised me that he will personally check the fridge before delivery, which was not done! He then told me a Defy person will come and assess the issue. Needless to say the Defy person never came. I requested a refund and them to come and remove the fridge. I was told to come to the shop and they will refund me. When I got there they could not do it because the fridge is still at my place. So they made me come there knowing that their policy prevents them from refunding me. Needless to say David let for home earlier than what he is supposed to be at work and ignored further phone calls from his staff trying to sort out the problem. Today is the 12 Nov so hopefully they will remove the fridge
