My son joined Planet Fitness gym. He was told that he could cancel the contract on 20 days notice, which he did in writing. Planet fitness has since tried to charge his credit card, and has not honoured the terms of the contract. They are now sending him threatening letters, and he has been harassed by a debt collector. This is completely unacceptable, as he cancelled the contract and gave Planet Fitness notice by phone and by email. Customer service is not a strong point with this company! They also misled us regarding sign up, promising a sign on discount. After a few weeks Planet Fitness called to say they had to charge a R700 activation fee instead of the R30 that the sales person said.
Unreasonable overweight charges. My sons luggage weighed 32Kg instead of 23Kg , and we were charged ZAR5000 (about USD 290) for the extra 9kg for the one bag. I did complain to the airline, and they insist that we were charged the correct fees for the overweight.
Free and unlimited flight changes are a scam. I paid R2726 for a flight with the "free and unlimited changes" option. We changed the ticket twice, and because of covid affecting the holiday plans, we changed it a third time, to a ticket that has a price of R1800. To my utter disappointment, I was informed by the head of the call center Mr Lwandile Matshoba, that I have to pay in an additional R460 , because we changed the ticket too many times. I can understand if I paid say R1500 and I wanted a ticket that was R1800 that I would have to pay in the difference, but I paid over R900 more than the price of the ticket. Kulula are effectively charging me R3186 for a R1800 value ticket. So they are just thieves in my opinion. Be warned.
Thank you card - not working. = NO THANKS. I have an Edcon "Thank you card" which I have been faithfully swiping at Engen Garages each time I put petrol in. I have done this for over a year, and I assumed there would be an useful amount of credits on this loyalty card. When I tried to use the card at the shop, I was told that the card "doesnt work", yet when I buy petrol, I get the message on the receipt saying that the card was successfully swiped. Anyway, I have tried the call centre, and emailled the help desk many times, and this has been going on now for many weeks, and they seem to be unable or unwilling to sort this out.
