Correction: The purchase was made at the Phola Park Shopping Centre (KwaMhlanga) branch, not Menlyn. The Phola Park branch team is the one that successfully assisted me with the machine replacement."
Update: Fair Price has collected the damaged unit and delivered a brand-new, working 14kg Hisense machine today. Issue resolved."
I am updating this because Fair Price has failed to resolve the issue after two weeks. A manager called me from a private cellphone offering a R800 discount to keep the dented machine, which I reject. Head Office staff continually hang up on me when I call for updates. They claimed a technician was booked, but the technician now refuses to come to my area due to the distance. The technician also falsely claimed to have called me and my wife, which my call logs prove is a lie. I paid R6,100 for a new Hisense 14kg machine, not a damaged one. This is a clear breach of my rights under the Consumer Protection Act. I am no longer interested in empty promises or "under the table" cash offers. I demand a brand-new replacement unit or a full refund immediately. I am now escalating this matter to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud (CGSO) for formal mediation.Pro
I bought a machine for R5,800 from Fair Price. It has a serious dent hidden under factory foam. The manager refuses to replace it because a third party signed the delivery note. This violates the Consumer Protection Act. I demand a brand-new replacement and collection of this defective unit.
