I purchased luggage from Makro specifically for an overseas trip, expecting it to be durable enough for travel. Unfortunately, the suitcase broke while I was overseas and being used for its intended purpose. When landing in another country at the start of an overseas trip. When I contacted Makro, I was told that they cannot assist because their return policy only allows returns within 14 days and the item must be unused and in original condition. This makes absolutely no sense for travel luggage. A suitcase is bought to be used for travel, and if it fails during a trip – especially an international one – it is physically impossible to return it within 14 days while you are still overseas. It is also unrealistic to expect luggage to remain unused just to qualify for a return. Customers don’t buy suitcases as decoration. They buy them to travel. I’m not asking for anything unreasonable – the luggage clearly failed during normal use on its first trip.1 reply
