On holiday in KZN south Africa Took the kids out for pancakes, we were seated indoors, the kids had not finished their meals, and pieces of dirt and sand fell into their plates and into their cups. I asked for one of the pancakes to be replaced, as they had already eaten part of it, replacing both (even though it would not have been an unreasonable request) seemed unnecessary. The management refused, offering us a milkshake instead, I declined the milkshake and said they could just remove one pancake from the bill, however they refused. I explained that the kids could not finish their meal or their drinks and I don’t think it’s fair for me to pay for the entire meal after bits of their ceiling fell in to it. The wait staff were apologetic, but the owner’s daughter was unhelpful, argumentative and rude. In the end, I paid for all the meals, and for half of the pancake I asked to be removed from the bill, just because it had been going on for over 2 hours, they had phoned their security company, and 6 armed guards were standing around. (obviously confused as to why they were called over a mum and granny dining with 2 little girls. It all seemed like it must have been a prank, but sadly it was not.
