Handing out my personal details
There are few things that infuriate me more than telemarketers and spam calls. Where do these people even get my details from, I always want to know.
Today they were kind enough to reveal their source, one Lourens Dormehl from Nerds on Site in Centurion. The only contact I have ever had with him was when I made use of their services for my mom's computer whom I couldn't get to.
And today it turns out that he is happy to abuse that professional relationship and hand out my personal details to anyone willing to reward him for it.
He is the reason I would never make use of Nerds on Site again and never recommend them to anyone either. And his kind are the reason that millions of people are having to contend with the scourge of telemarketers and spam on a daily basis.

Nerds On Site have a very strict policy of NOT distributing anyone's details to third parties.
This is also the first complaint we have received that i am aware of.
So we would like to firstly apologize and ensure you that we will investigate the matter further. I have spoken to Lourens as well and he is not aware of receiving any rewards or of supplying your or any of our clients details to an outside company for advertising purposes.
Please supply us with the SPAM companies details so we can follow up and ensure this never happens again.

Look, I appreciate that you're looking into this but I don't really expect that you're going to be able to do much about it. It would be easy for Lourens to flatly deny ever giving out client details. I wouldn't be surprised if he just gave out any random numbers in his address book not even knowing whether they were clients or contact persons for that put-put reservation he made three years ago and still have in his address book.
The fact remains that I received an unsolicited call offering some or other insurance and the lady told me that she got my details from Lourens Dormehl. I know that's not enough for you to summarily fire him but it is enough for me to stop using the company he represents, stop recommending them to others and make sure whomever reads my reviews know about it.

When i mentioned Platinum, Lourens remembered that he did give out some family member names to Platinum. He agrees that yours was between these.
He apologises profusely and will also contact you personally.
From a company side we will again make our members aware of our policy.

Even though your details was relayed by mistake(not a family member) by Lourens in a personal capacity we do feel we want to also apologise and will be looking at ways to protect our clients from this type of advertising obtained from individuals phone books on their privately owned phones.
I will be discussing this with our CEO later in the day to see what can be done apart from clear instructions and training of our contractors in this regard.
