I am extremely disappointed with the service and lack of assistance received from Nedbank/MFC regarding my vehicle finance account.
Since 19 February 2026, I have been requesting financial assistance due to my maternity leave. My account was restructured in January 2026, but at no point during this process was I informed that there would be a 12-month restriction period preventing me from applying for further assistance thereafter. Had this been communicated clearly, I would have made more informed financial decisions. MFC/Nedbank has not acknowledged their fault of not discussing any T’s and C’s.
Instead of receiving support, my account has fallen into arrears and was handed over to Cheetah Business Trust collections agency, who then instructed a repo agent to come and evaluate my vehicle and take photographs of it.
A Section 129 notice was also issued on my account, which legally allows me 10 business days to make alternative financial arrangements. Those 10 business days have not yet lapsed. I have already explained to the repo agent that I am entering debt review and that my debt counsellor will be providing the Form 17.1 on Monday, 1 June 2026. Nedbank should therefore allow me the opportunity and time to make these arrangements without having a repo agent chasing and intimidating me during a period that is still legally afforded to me.
What is most alarming is that the repo agent obtained my husband’s personal information (will not tell me how he was able to obtain his information which makes me believe it was not via legal channels) shows up at his place of work and proceeded to discuss my account and financial matters with him without my consent. This is a direct violation of the POPI Act and a serious breach of my privacy and confidentiality.
I expected far better treatment, communication, and professionalism from Nedbank/MFC and the parties acting on their behalf. Customers facing financial difficulties should be treated with dignity and assisted appropriately, not ignored and subjected to ******** conduct.
