I escalated my concerns to Ford and the dealership regarding the warranty that was sold to me — a product that, in my experience, is completely misaligned with the “peace of mind” it promises. While I do acknowledge and appreciate that the dealership stepped in and covered the repair costs that the warranty refused to pay, that is not the point. I paid for a warranty specifically to avoid situations like this. Instead, I am left relying on goodwill rather than the product I purchased. Within just six months, I had two separate issues, and on both occasions the warranty failed to deliver — including rejecting a claim for a basic component like a boost pipe. This raises a very serious concern: what exactly does this warranty cover, and what happens when a major failure occurs? I understand the warranty is underwritten by a third party, but it was sold to me under the Ford Motor Company brand and recommended by the dealership’s F&I. From a customer perspective, that makes Ford and the dealership fully accountable for the product. Passing responsibility to a third party does not change the customer experience. The claims process itself appears to be an administrative gamble — slow, uncertain, and dependent on whether the dealership believes they will be reimbursed. That is not what any customer expects after paying for extended cover. What is equally concerning is the way feedback has been handled. After submitting an honest review, I was contacted and challenged on my rating rather than engaged with constructively. Despite raising these concerns again, there has been no meaningful follow-up or resolution. At this point, I have lost confidence not only in the warranty product, but in the overall aftersales experience. If this is the level of support customers can expect, it becomes very difficult to justify purchasing from Ford again.

December 2025 I bought a Ford Territory from McCarthy Ford Silverlakes. Within 6 months the starter gave in leaving me stranded in the middle of traffic. I had to get my insurance to tow the car back to the dealer. The starter was eventually replaced and no feedback was given why the starter gave in. 6+ months later, the engine light came on. I took the car to the dealer, they returned with the light off. I took it right back the next day for the same issue. I'm was told that they want to replace the engine. The date for the engine to be replaced was said to be in January 2026. No confirmed date given. They were willing to provide a courtesy car but I will be liable for a possible amount of up to R40000 for excess should something happen to the courtesy car. Both Ford SA and Mccarthy ford were not willing to reduce this excess amount and showed no sympathy for an issue that is Ford's and for the inconvenience they have placed me in. At this point I regret doing business with Ford. 18 February 2026 The above post was done about 2 months ago. In the first 6 months the starter broke and needed to be replaced. 6 months later the engine broke and was replaced. 2 weeks ago I got the car back with a new engine. I'm now stuck in the dark at 7pm with an apparently new engine that stopped and will not start waiting for a tow truck. My worst buy ever. My worst experience ever.

I honestly believe that Craig Tate, manager at the used vehicle department, is the rudest human alive. He absolutely has no idea how to work with clients. My husband took his Mahindra in for a service yesterday and when he went to pick it up, he was looking at a car he was interested in. Craig came to him and rudely and with an attitude asked if there is something he can help him with. My husband asked him why the 2025 model was so much cheaper than the 2023 model. Instead of explaining the reason, he was so rude and with an attitude(again) asked, and I quote: "Stel jy belang in 'n kar of gaan jy aanhou *** vrae vra?" That is so unprofessional and I cannot believe such a big company employs such rude people.

Alton Ford at McCarthy Ford arranged sale of vehicle to our company on public holiday. TOP of CLASS service and attitude. Even the empathetic way he accommodated a child to sit in his dream Mustang absolutely top top class.
