I gave notice to move out of my place on 21 February 2018 to say I will be moving out on 31 March 2018 . This is more than a months notice and my lease states that I can give 21 working days notice and I will be charged a cancellation fee of R2950 . On the day of inspection , the lady who was supposed to do the inspection did not show up and gave me some excuses ,knowing very well that I had a flight to catch as I was relocating . Needless to say that the "damages" found in the apartment were exactly the amount of deposit . Her not showing up was essentially to make sure that I dont get my deposit back . Then these people charge me 2 months additional rent for breaking my lease and added cancellation costs and costs of a garage that I never requested/used/know anything about . They expected me to pay close R28 000 for cancelation of my lease even after I gave them notice. I cannot pay rent for a place I did not live in . I gave more than a months notice . They have now blacklisted me through a court judgement for the costs that they just inflated . What I would like to know is that ,is it legal to blacklist a consumer for cost of something they never used ?I have never defaulted on my rent . Never . Blacklisting someone for something they have never used? It's not debt that I incurred . I gave more than a months notice . Secondly , I was not even summoned to court or anything like that but a judgement to my name has been taken ? I have lodged a complaint with the rental tribunal and I will be consulting with a lawyer as I don't think its legal and I think its against the CPA . They go by The letting Corporation/Invitation Homes /Kloof Joint Venture Day light robbers taking advantage of consumers .

Just the worst! No words can even describe how furious I am. Definitely learned my lesson which is BELIEVE ALL THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS YOU SEE ON HELLO PETER! 1. Do not fall for any “move in and pay later”. 2. There is no way that you will get your full deposit back. 3. Oak Park Complex is turning into a township “literally” 4. Complex manage is the reason we left. 5. The apartments are beautiful but cheap materials are used for labor, you can literally touch the wall with your finger and the paint comes off. (They will charge you for painting the entire apartment!) 6. Everything you see is a scam. 7. Your neighbors can have full on parties 24/7 and nothing can be done about that. DO NOT ENTER!

I would run for the hills if I ever have to deal with this company and people again. Apart from their cancellation policy being ridiculous, they repainted the whole unit, except the bathrooms (we left zero permanent damage) and deducted it from our deposit. They use overpriced contractors you won't even find on Google. There was no communication about this and no quotes were even shown to us. I read so many complaints on Hello Peter regarding this issue of being charged a ridiculous amount for maintenance when vacating the unit. Be warned! Luckily, I work in this field and know how this process is supposed to be conducted. We're currently pursuing a case against them at The Rental Housing Tribunal. They deleted my review on Google - good luck trying to delete this post now!

I rented a flat at Oak Park and after lease ended. Helisia and Cheryl do not want to give me my deposit back. I am never renting through TLC, I have taken the matter to court and they will be served what they deserve.

So moving out and the s### continues, I am now being charged and extra month because they can do whatever they want and being charged for walls that apparently need to be painted but when I moved in it was never painted so now I am being charged for something that I didn't even do. I mean seriously how do you sleep at night. Clearly people are not happy with how you do business but you just don't care... even half of your staff has left since last year. \/ my old review below \/ I agree fully with all the other reviewers, you just have to pay and pay some more for useless service, never have I seen a more unorganized and misinformed company in my life. Ask Soekie as I am still waiting for a reply on 3 of my emails I sent her over 3 weeks...

It is with an unpleasant experience that I write this mail to you. However, I believe that Consumers should always be protected from companies that don't operate ethically. Many have already complained about this company experiencing the same or more problems than we did. Below are some of the reasons for my complaints: The Letting Cooperation, is where we rented for a year and a half before we left. Initially when we moved in, they didn't wipe the place, mop it, etc. and there were items that were not remove to their original condition (such as shelfs from previous tenants, etc.), this was said to not be an issue and when we leave we wouldn't have to worry about it. Further we were pushed to pay 2 months deposit instead of a month and a half that is usually their standard. We abided by their requests and paid as required with no hassles. Once we were finally in, we had a few issues and would report when required. We came to find that the maintenance team was very slow to fix issues, some of the issues were ignored or not even fixed therefore we just got things done ourselves as we didn't have time to wait for them. Furthermore, their system for water & electricity with the rental was very mysterious in the manner in which it worked. As from time to time our electricity would just deplete very fast although there would be no one in the house during the day. The water rate would be high as well and when you ask the people that manage the system how they measure the success of the system that it is working accurately, the answer we receive was in a nutshell that they not 100% sure but it is plugged in with the utilities, etc. Lastly, when we moved out we gave them more than 3 months to find new tenants. Above and beyond that we even helped to look for tenants for them as the contract stated that if you cancel in between the year you have to give 21 business days written notice of which we gave them 30 days. Further we stayed an additional 3 months to cover the penalty we would have to incur if we just moved out and they were happy with this arrangement, until we were fed up of the fact that there wasn't much people coming to view nor good marketing to actually attract more tenants. We became sitting ducks in a sense of that they were looking for a reason to make us pay them. We finally moved out 3 months and a half later and they suddenly gave us a penalty of another 3 months rental. Above and beyond we actually cleaned the walls, took out all the nails and painted them, the house looked practically newer than when we moved in. We left the shelfs that we found as they were. They then charged so expensive for further maintenance on their end of items that didn't even make sense and were not identified during inspection. They also charged us for items that were there when we arrived meaning it was the bill for the previous tenant and yet we were not getting charged for it. Also we found it odd that they gave us the refund form for the deposit and that their lawyer when responding to our mail practically couldn’t tell us that in the contractual agreement it is written, instead she said this is her interpretation of the agreement. Anyways, we are busy handling this matter in court already and we just strongly had to bring this to your attention to protect consumers as many are having the same experience with them. They practically suck money out of people to make themselves more money which is not correct one bit. For us it was very unfair as we abided by the rules and ensured that the property was well maintained.
