Greetings - A week ago, I wrote to Ms Esther Schmidt at the Johannesburg Road Agency regarding an ******* two-brick high wall which had been built on the pavement outside a building in Houghton Estate. The wall prevented anyone using a wheelchair or pushing a pram from using the pavement, which is public property. I immediately got a response and within days, Ms Khumo Diphoko had dispatched inspectors to the site, and instructed the building to remove structure or face fines. Congratulations to ALL involved. In a city where so much seems to be going wrong, it was a delight to find a department that was both proactive and supportive. Thank you !

Wow, what an impeccable service one is receiving from JRA and your insurance broker, is just as lovely. Shane Basikoro from African Dawn SA, such a gem. On the 26 Dec 2025,i unfortunately came into contact with a pothole in Ontdekkers street, Roodepoort, all protocols observed, relevant forms sourced and even pictures taken, my liability claim is still somewhat dangling with your so cold negotiator for "finalization" they say. Your own procedure states response will take 4 weeks, lodged the claim in January 2026, It's April and i still get a copy and paste response, the cherry on top is your own insurance broker saying that JRA is sending a report that states the pothole was fixed on the 25th Dec, a day before the incident, shocker Only after i made your broker aware of the photographic proof submitted with the application, then they suddenly get an idea, now JRA has to amend their own false report, but here's the kicker your own ever friendly Shane didn't miss the opportunity to inform me how i must "beg" for my claim to be paid out. Yes, a South African citizen who fully complies with her tax and affairs has to be "beg" for an institution to actually do their job. Very professional and very serving of the public, being a public servant myself, i am utterly disgusted by the JRA and your so called broker. I want my tyres and i will scream as far and wide as i can until someone does their job.

Reference number:40891 Claim Number:ADRS***9 Claim was rejected for more reason ,all documentation was submitted and suddenly they use their terms and conditions as backup. I am a tax payer for 2 decades and not 1 day or 1 month that I did not pay tax in South Africa, and now claiming for the damage roads used and there is a lack of funds for amount claims and repair of the roads .
