Gumtree's improvements
I have personally been very impressed with the added features that Gumtree has incorporated over the past two years. The best feature being that you can now pay online, and have your item delivered to you. I have now been able to buy items in Cape Town and have it shipped to Durban.

**** POOR COMMUNICATION - GUMTREE SA
i generate an income from Gumtree running adds as I sell puppies and various other items. my primary account i have had for years and this was note useable for a reason i still do not know as Gumtree has a support facility that generates a ticket but no one comes back to you and if you email the Support email given there is also no feedback even stating that they will respond in 6hrs. i had to create another profile that i have been running for over 3 years and boom, same **** agai. income affected, emails sent, support tickets generates.....silence from gumtree! ***. so i generate a 3rd account, the profile set up goes well everything is verified, Contact, email and my ID......next day, cannot access or post an add. *** GUMTREE! *** the biggest issue here is the silence. no one gets back to you and there is no contact number. you either deal with a robot on the "LIVE CHAT" or get a automated support ticket response, THATS IT! i have all the evidence. i have all the emails. CAN SOMEONE HELP!!!!!!

Another reason why Gumtree South africa ratings are low.
Hi all. Hope to find you all well. I'd like to share my terrible experience with Gumtree "South africa". After being a client of theirs for 5+ years and paying for promoted adverts they blocked me. With no explanation, no reason given (same as some of the other reviewers) and no refund for the promoted advert I paid R2000 + Ive been calling and emailing for almost 2 weeks. The guy who takes the calls said he couldn't assist. The people who work with the accounts are in Cape Town and suggested i should email them. I emailed them numerous times and no answer. I tried calling again and guess what he decided to ignore my calls. From a simple matter now to a legal matter. Beware out there.

refusal of ad because of breed of dog.
after a refused post because of my breed of dog (pit bull) my ad never materialized , instead of mentioning as to why the ad failed , it was brushed off. so after years of using gumtree, i chose to leave the platform happily. all because of the biased personas upon the breed. all i can say is , ban all power breeds then not just "pit bull".

Worst service ever
After a dozen phone calls and emails over a period off two months, I’m still not getting any help or assistance regarding my login request. Now they want me to pay R65 before I can be assisted? I have been almost 20 year with Gumtree and now this???

Gumtree **** – **** “Support Chat” Stole My Banking Details
I was ****med through Gumtree by a **** “Gumtree Support” chat that looked 100% real. A buyer asked me to use Gumtree Shipping/Pargo, then directed me to a **** Gumtree page where a “support bot” ******* me into authorising a banking transaction and entering a code. This was actually a phishing **** to ***** my money. Gumtree needs to urgently warn users that: Gumtree never asks for banking details or OTPs. Buyers should never send links to **** “support” pages. This experience has left me at financial risk and caused huge stress. Gumtree must step up security and educate users immediately to stop more people being ****med.
