Yesterday I purchased a ticket with Freeway Coaches for a bus departing Cape Town at 6:30 PM to Johannesburg.
My brother arrived early as instructed and waited at the station. By 7:30 PM, there was still no bus and no update from the company. I had to call them myself, only to be told that the bus had a maintenance issue and would not be making the trip to Johannesburg at all.
Again, there was no communication sent to passengers.
This is extremely frustrating. People arrange transport to the station, spend money getting there, and plan their schedules around these trips. Some passengers might have had work commitments, family emergencies, or even job interviews the next day in Johannesburg.
Leaving passengers waiting for an hour with no update and only informing them when they call is unacceptable.
Companies should respect their customers and communicate properly when there are cancellations or major delays.
Very disappointing service.
