I booked a multi city flight through expedia for(29/12/2024) From Nice-Cape Town and then (26/01/2025)Johannesburg-Nice. I booked my flights on the 14/11/2024.
I was working on a yacht in France at the time. I suffered quite a bad spine injury on duty on the 18/11/2024. I got a doctors letter that stated I would only be able to fly in First Class with medical assistance. I submitted a request for a refund through expedia. It was denied. I was then contacted by one of their agents(04/12/2024) that informed me I submitted the wrong request and helped me through the process of sumbitting the correct one(Exception refund). Up to this point they were very helpful(In the meantime, on 04/12/2024, I was repatriated by my employer on a flight with medical assistance.)
My second refund request got denied on 09/12/2024, but I was assured that they would contact Air France and discuss the refund because it states that you can get a refund for medical reasons on their(Air france's) website. They then submitted another request which was denied.
At this point I asked an agent on the 14/12/2024 to assist me in moving my flights to a later date since I cannot get a refund. Also, I could not change my flights by myself on the app or their website. It just said to contact an agent every time I tried. (Neither on Air France's website or Expedia's). The agent informed me that there would be a 200 euro fee to move my flights which I had no problem with. I went back and forth with the agent and we agreed on dates that she can move my flights to. She said she would move my flights and asked if I needed help with anything else. I said "No. Thank you for your help." and that was that. The day before my flight on the 28/12/2024 I still haven't heard anything and followed up via email. An agent then told me I was going to lose my fllights because I didn't cancel or move my flights and I would be a "No show" according the the airline.
I was furious since this was the 5th or 6th agent that I have spoken to at this point. She said she will see what she can do and once again it just hit a dead end with her saying she is waiting for the airline to respond. I have given up now. I paid over 1200 euros for the flights which is now just gone even though I raised the issue a month before my departure date. I hate feeling so helpless. I WOULD NOT USE EXPEDIA FOR ANYTHING EVER AGAIN. STAY FAR AWAY.
