I had tried apps and evening classes for years with barely any progress. This school was completely different small groups, native-speaking teachers, and lessons built around real conversations rather than grammar drills.

This is not the first time serious issues like this have occurred at this company. Procedures are unclear and inconsistently app****, leaving teachers exposed. Staff are given a so-called “travel allowance” that is only provided if they physically come to work, which functions more like conditional pay than a genuine allowance. Performance incentives are entirely non-objective. Teachers can be rated poorly for arbitrary reasons such as not smiling enough or for teaching a topic selected by the student that is later labelled “controversial” (for example, something as basic as ordering a pizza). There are little to no systems in place to protect teachers from unfair evaluations or disputes. Feedback and ratings feel subjective and unpredictable rather than based on teaching quality or clear criteria. When it comes to promotion and advancement, night-shift staff are at a clear disadvantage due to minimal interaction with management. As a result, opportunities for progression are limited, and career growth does not appear to be based purely on merit. Night-shift staff are often treated as an afterthought, including being provided with leftover snacks from daytime events, which reflects the broader lack of consideration for this group. Combined with repeated payroll issues, poor transparency, and lack of accountability, this creates a stressful and insecure working environment. Proceed with caution if you value fairness, clear processes, and being paid reliably.

EF is one of the best online English Education platforms I highly recommend it. It can teach a person proper English in less than 2 years. It’s truly worth it. The managers are so kind and understanding. The staff work so hard and always give their best they even work on all the National holidays in South Africa. Please do book lessons whether you are international or not this company will most certainly take you places. It is truly one of a kind. It creates jobs while also looking out for students for the best education possible. #Awesomeness
