Was happy until recently. My daughter grade nine had to write English paper yesterday. Time was open until 20h00 to write the exam. She likes to study on the day and would rather write later. She started the paper on the new invigilator app ( replaced proctorfree) and an hour and 15 minutes into a 2 hour paper the App indicated FAULT. You could not access Brainline online self to get technical support believe me we tried logging in from another PC in the house as well. Made screenshots. However we are now told by the teacher after an email was sent explaining the situation that it will be send to IT otherwise unfortunately my daughter will not be able to write a supplementary this year but only next near. I can understand if the fault was on our side, electricity went down, internet went down, anything else but a fault that we heard other kids also experienced makes no sense. Also it seems as if the school needed you to write earlier... how does that make a difference if you cant get the assistance if you try and log in ... your answers are saved it seems and it is a done deal. I can not SEE HOW THIS MISTAKE is on our side and will appreciate a prompt answer from someone that can actually explain this to me

I have read through the remarks of people giving this school a one star and then writing some absurd comment. Really? Do you even know what you are talking about. Have you seen the textbooks being used by the school, do they look fami**** or was your kids not previously in a model C/government school? Also the classes are really good, the standard is high so I would say if you can't handle the heat stay out of the kitchen. I find it to be a very good school. Spoken to many happy students and parents that enrolled their kids in here.

As a Grade 12 learner, I feel that Brainline Learning World has always been an academically astute and accommodating learning platform that I have found to be the best suited for my needs. They have introduced a new standing on school to the table. My marks and learning performance were always directly proportional to my input. As if this was a career on its own! I have always been placed first during my seven years’ experience with Brainline. My issues were minimal, and my performance was always on-par. The syllabus is a hands-on approach to the traditional studying method, and gave me the creative freedom I craved as a young adult. Therefore, it enabled me to reach my personal and academic goals sooner than expected. The classes they offer are always of the highest quality, together with other academic resources (accessible to anyone, anywhere), which they curate in-house, has always helped me shorten my learning curve in all my subjects. Notwithstanding the friendly and unique experience each educator has to offer in terms of a student development path within their respective subject. To them, the student is their own. After-class and internal support services accepted my unique circumstances as a novice online student. They always provided me with a solution to the matter at hand and prioritized my education and wellbeing. I can never show my appreciation with words, but I hope this will suffice. It is my sincere wish that more high school pupils would discover the value laying hidden within this method of education. It always nudged me in the right direction and, it will definitely teach you more than the traditional high school will ever. It is truly the tour de force of the modern South African education system.

My daughter was an A aggregate student before joining Brainline where her marks plummeted between 20-30% across her subjects. There are very few people (not the teachers) marking the subjects and to get a remark costs a huge amount of money. Children are also taught new work that will be in the exam up until the day before they write which does not give them sufficient time to prepare for their exams. Her confindence and self esteem took a huge hit and she felt that she would have to give up on her dream of becoming an engineer as her marks were now well below the required marks to study engineering. I've taken her out of Brainline at the beginning of this term and within a month her marks are back to before her joining Brainline with almost all her subjects above 80% again. I now have my happy, confident daughter back! Parents should really think twice before enrolling their children in Brainline.

It is true this is Home School. Brainline is not for the entitled parents, is for parents who are hands on regardless of life commitments to the kids academic development. There is no s**** feeding here kids are on their own about learning. Kids got to be responsible for learning journey with the parents constantly and consistently overseeing the progress 🚧 out of Brain line. I apologise for being defensive or offensive. The only suggestion I would like to make is, "can there be option of learning only in English" I am pedi from Limpopo and I am staying in Cape Town.

Bottomline: Our son who joined 2nd quarter grade 11 and changed language (our choice), was very well prepared for university studies, and is now a confident, independant, capable first year student at Maties. That said, changing from a brick and mortar school to Brainline was no easy way to finish matric. His average marks fell a good 15% initially, and his matric marks were probably lower than they would have been via the "normal school system" (other parents in the area experienced the same trend) - BUT we are convinced that his Brainline journey prepared him far better for further studies than the normal school system does. (Our oldest son did matric the "standard way" in 2018 and even with excellent marks, battled far more with adjusting to university level academics. He was more used to being s**** fed, rather than going through Brainline's no-s****feed training towards being a self motivated, independant student. Communication with the school was not always quick and easy. He did however learn to take full responsibility for his studies and not be deterred by fluctuating marks. Brainline has a delightful selection of subjects on offer. If your child is planning to apply for a course like medicine and receiving top marks is a top priority for selection, rather stick to the normal school system, where children are being trained to write a good exam and top marks are easier to attain - IEB does not focus on straight forward answers or easy marks. rather on developing insight into the work. (Students might be better prepared the IEB way, but miss being selected due to competing with Department of Basic Ed students and their higher marks) If however you want your child to develop the ability to be a self propelled, independant student, who can think for themselves, you cannot go wrong with Brainline. Younger children definitely need more parent involvement the Brainline way, but high school learners, are able to work independantly. We were still able to do the invigilation as parents during Covid, but invigilation can become costly if you have to pay extra for that. Brainline is not the easiest option out there, but we are most satisfied with our son's preparation for further studies after matriculating at Brainline in 2021.
