Serve yourself at the Bean Tree!

I heard of this lovely restaurant, so imagine the disappointment when we tried it. First, there is no sign saying "Wait for seating" or "Seat yourself." This is counter restaurant. We fetched the menus, and I waited more than 30 minutes for a small "Good morning breakfast." Drinks are sweating on the counter while wait staff make no eye contact. So our dishes started piling up. I took them over to the counter. Finally I was served. Couldn't find a toothpick on the table, just the counter. Out of chocolate brownies, malva pudding, out of giving a whit about service. Only after I asked for the manager, the server came to apologise: they were understaffed but not so badly that they couldn't chitchat. No checking in on customers. If you want to sit at a table with a pile of rib bones still left from the previous diner, do visit Bean Tree, Zewenwacht Mall. Pathetic, literally the worst service ever. We waved the waiting family goodbye and God speed.
