I am extremely dissatisfied with the service received from Barnard’s TV and Appliance Services, sourced via Defy’s accredited supplier list. I requested assistance with a non-functioning Defy F350 freezer and asked that the technician also bring and replace a door gasket for a Defy L350 fridge. I was charged two separate call-out fees of R632.50 each. Upon enquiry, I was informed that the fridge call-out fee included labour for replacing the gasket. The technician proceeded to replace the freezer PCB at a cost exceeding R1,000 (despite the part being available elsewhere at a significantly lower price). I was also required to provide my own silicone to reseal the panel. Regarding the fridge, I was informed that the gasket was “not available.” When I queried the call-out fee, I was told it was for “assessing the fridge” and was non-refundable—despite the fault (a broken gasket) being clearly communicated in advance. I subsequently sourced the correct gasket within an hour at a cost of R320 and replaced it myself without difficulty. Furthermore, no invoices were issued at the time of service; I had to request them twice before they were provided. Dudley, the owner indicated telephonically that this seemed unreasonable, but that he would get back to me. After a follow-up, he informed me that this was their policy but that he would refund me anyway. Needless to say, this did not happen. In summary, I was charged R632.50 for a fridge service that yielded no outcome, despite the issue being straightforward and easily resolved independently. This raises serious concerns about the fairness of the charges and the quality of service provided by a supposedly accredited supplier.

Barnards TV & Appliance Services (Pretoria). Do not make use of this company. We have a problem with our Defy Freezer. It keeps giving an error on the screen. The first technician came at a call out fee of R650. And immediately said it is the PC board. He promised it will never happen again once the PC board is replaced. Replaced it for R1500. Three days later the error came on again. The second technician said it is the defrosting element. But the third technician said ot is not faulty. The second technician starting taking out some ice that was inside the freezer by force and broke the gas pipe. After some time he returned to fix the pipe and regas. And it is hot, so many of the frozen foods started defrosting. After they left, the error code is still on the screen and hopefully the freezer will freeze. But now we might as well buy a new one, since they messed it up already.

Barnard’s TV and Appliances. So I am a Mastercare Client and my Sony set was sent to Barnards TV & Appliances for repair in July. The Power supply board had died. On Sunday morning, I sent them a message as the set had died again, the same symptom. Today, Monday, I contacted them to ask when the promised pick up would happen and I was told someone would contact me. (This was a WhatsApp from the owner) Well, nothing happens, I get the person who answers their switchboard promising to call back but no call happens. I called the owner and he said, all our technicians are busy today, we can come by tomorrow. In what way does this constitute service? It is still under Barnard’s repair warranty.

Worst Customer service EVER! the ladies working there are unprofessional and have no Customer service experience. They are rude and don't call back after I called about 5 times asking when the technician will come out. Defy should take them out of their system. Because they are giving Defy a Bad name!

I have had the worst possible experience in service. I had to pay R690 for a call out fee of which the technician, took photos in an 8minute job. Thereafter requesting again for me to send pictures. Monday 27 a call for a quote of a part for R230.06. I agreed nothing further, I followed up again a week later, they then added a further R 450. Claiming for wiring of the unit but what has happened with my R690? Then I was advised the technician is to call me on fixing between 8-10am on the 4th June. To date followed up again, they will call. Oven still not fixed. 13h05 no call received still.
