19 Apr 2026, 15:23On 18 April 2026, I put R300 worth of petrol into my Renault Clio at Astron Energy Verelem. This was only meant to be a top-up.
The fuel attendant, whose name tag read “Thabiso,” assisted me, but the receipt showed the name “Martin,” which I found confusing. The attendant seemed distracted and was busy talking instead of focusing on the task. I even had to ask him if he was actually filling the car.
After I started my car and drove off, I immediately noticed something was wrong — my fuel gauge had not moved at all.
On 19 April 2026, I returned to the station to speak with the manager about the issue. However, I was treated as if I was being unreasonable and was not taken seriously. They were even reluctant to review the CCTV footage when I requested it.
I later went to a BP garage to fill up petrol, and my fuel gauge increased as expected.
This experience was very disappointing. Is this how customers are treated? It raises serious concerns about the service and whether customers are being treated fairly.
